Endgame or Climax to Current Events in World History

Summary

After learning about the Haitian Revolution, Simon Bolivar, Vietnam, Northern Ireland, and the Balkans, I revealed that what we were actually studying the entire time was current events. (I had been using a different name for the class until then.) From what they have learned and written in studying each of the above events in history, they can now answer important questions about current events, such as these:

• Should we have gone to war in Iraq?
  
• Are the Iraqis ready for democracy? What do they need, and how to give it to them?
  
• How do we get out of Iraq?
  
• What is most important to do to make peace in Iraq? (Between us and terrorists? Between Shiites and Sunnis?)
  
• Balkanization is being considered for Iraq. (Kurdistan, and possibly Shiites and Sunnis) Should this be done?
